In my photography, I utilize the elements of art as tools to craft delightfully captivating imagery.

Lines, whether they're the crisp edges of an architectural element or the graceful curves of the human body, direct attention and guide the viewer's gaze through my compositions.

Through shape and form, I can infuse interest into my images. Coaxing dimensionality and depth from even the simplest of subjects. Each photograph becomes a tangible moment, inviting viewers to explore its three-dimensional essence.

My bold colors seize the viewers' attention and emphasize the subject. I often incorporate repeated colors or patterns to add interest and visual pleasure.

By manipulating the interplay of light and shadow i create depth and mood, evoking emotions and setting the tone of each scene. I particularly favor contrasty, hard light that makes my subjects pop and accentuates details that might otherwise go unnoticed.

Texture, both tangible and implied, adds a tactile dimension to my work. Whether it's the rough surface of a weathered street corner, the smooth fabric of a garment, or the play of light on a surface. Creating visual interest, texture enriches the sensory experience.

Through thoughtful use of space, I arrange elements to craft a balanced and intriguing visual narrative.

By intentionally employing these elements, I aim to capture that standout image that encapsulates the essence of what we want to convey, one image that instantly grabs your attention and leaves a lasting impression.

A little about me::

Hi I’m April! I am a commercial photographer in Los Angeles. Photography was always a hobby growing up, as well as various other art forms. After high school I attempted to get a fine art degree at Western Washington Univerity in the small town of Bellingham, Washington. That never materialized, but I am so thankful for all the art classes I took because they were a huge part of developing my eye as a photographer. After nearly four years at the university I found myself in Seattle and at the doorsteps of an incredible 2 year photography program. This is where my photography career began. There I learned the fundamentals of lighting, how to use all the equipment, and all of the software programs the professionals in the industry were using. The program really set us up for success and I’ve been told I have an incredible gift of “seeing the light.” After graduating in 2015, I immediately started freelancing. My dreams of being a fashion photographer brought me to Los Angeles.

When i’m not shooting for a client you'll likely find me scouring thrift stores for unique finds, designing my home with vintage furniture, sketching, tufting, and creating videos. The creativity never stops flowing.
